Choosing Outdoor Propane Fireplaces And Fire Pits
If you are looking for a way to keep your outdoor spaces warm and comfortable on those cool or cold nights, then you might want to consider a propane fireplace. Outdoor propane fireplaces allow you to have a fire at any time of the year without the struggle of finding fire wood or trying to get a fire lit over and over again. In addition, with different size options, you can warm a small or large area, depending on your needs and also choose propane fireplaces that over you maximum portability in the process. This gives you the ability to take your fireplace with you to the park, camping, on the beach and so on.
You will find that in terms of heat output for outdoor propane fireplaces, the more money you spend the more heat it has the ability to generate. Unfortunately, this also means that if you have a budget of $70 your options are going to include fireplaces that don't generate tons of heat and can only hold smaller propane tanks. This doesn't have to be a negative, however, it simply means that they are more appropriate for fall nights rather than deep winter nights.
A good example of such an option is the Bond 65032 Havana Outdoor Propane Tabletop Fire Bowl. This propane fireplace sits on a table, has a 12,000 BTU gas ring and has lava rocks in it to make it look, well, beautiful. It only weighs 8 lbs, making it very portable. I can hold a maximum of a 1lb tank and gets a max of 40 minutes of continuous burning.

If you have a larger budget, then the Camp Chef FP-29LG Del Rio Propane Fire Pit may be a better option. This allows for a 60,000 BTU gas ring and will hold a 20lb tank, which will burn continually for 8 hours. While this falls under the category of outdoor propane fireplaces, it looks like a traditional fire pit with the exception of the fact that it has lava rocks instead of wood. If you want a real wood look in the same price range, the Napoleon GPFP Outdoor Propane Gas Stainless Steel Fire Place is the other choice. It is a bit more expensive ($300 versus $275) but if you want a real wood look for the logs you'll have to pay for it. Lastly, for those of you with a big budget, there is the the Napoleon 42" Outdoor Gas Fireplace. Although it is designed to used with a natural gas outlet, you can purchase a conversion kit to attach to a propane take, It has 60,000 BTU and comes with a ceramic surround that makes it look like it was built in place rather than brought in. This is one of the more expensive outdoor propane fireplaces, but is a great piece for an outdoor space that you want to use year round. |
